How To Be A Smart Shopper
Some people have a hard time when it comes to shopping. Many say they don't like to do it, but I think it's because they may be doing it the wrong way. I've put together a few simple tips I like to keep in mind when I am shopping, in store and online.
- Plan Before You Shop-I like to think ahead before I take a trip to the mall or order online. This makes it easier for me to know what I need and I can get in and out when I am shopping at the mall. Nothing is worse than wondering around the mall not knowing what you needed in the first place. This will make for a much smoother shopping experience.
- Find The Best Price- If you are looking for a high end or big ticket item, this is important to keep in mind. You wouldn't want to spend more money if you knew you could find it somewhere else for a cheaper price, right!? That is why I believe it is super important to do your research ahead of time. Comparative shopping is always a must if you are interested in purchasing something you don't always buy. This is also a great way to avoid buyer's remorse.
- Off- Price Is The Way To Go!- I am such a fan of off-price retailers. You can always find pieces from Marshall's and TJ Maxx in my closet! I always seem to find something I like in those stores. The prices are great and they always carry very trendy pieces.
- Think Before You Buy- I am always that girl standing in the store with my item of choice in hand staring at it, holding it up, and repeating that a few more times. I do this because I am contemplating on if I REALLY need the piece or if I just like it. I also plan out some looks in my head and decide what other piece I already own that I could wear with it. Most times, I probably won't buy something if I don't have anything to wear it with. And if that's the case, I'll probably buy something I can wear it with and then end up spending more money lol!
- Keep In Mind The Time Of Year- You always want to keep in mind the weather. I like to stay a season ahead, just so I know what I have for the upcoming season and what I need. However, it is smart sometimes to purchase summer clothes at the end of the summer for the next year because they'll be on sale. But if you are someone like me, you like to stay on trend for that current season, therefore, it may be hard to buy something a whole year in advance.
- Stick To A Budget- Although this may be the hardest, it is the most important! After doing your research and finding the most reasonably priced item, hopefully you will be happy with your purchases and even happier with the price you paid. Ultimately, this will help you make reasonable decisions and you won't compulsively buy things you don't need.
- Try Before You Buy/As Soon As You Buy- If you have the chance to try on a piece of clothing before purchasing it, then definitely do that. This will help you avoid spending money on something you don't like the fit of and will save you a trip back to return the item. If you don't try it on before you buy it, I recommend trying it on as soon as possible. If you order something online, try it on as soon as you get it. A lot of brands have return policies with a time limit.
Hope You Enjoyed! :)
