My Hair Transformation

I have always considered myself to be a bit adventurous with my hair (to an extent). I've tried red hair, short hair, really long hair, ombre, and so on! I like to stick with the latest trends and I tend to obsess over a certain hairstyle if I put it in my mind that that is what I want to try next (you should see my "hair goals" Pinterest board and my screenshots of hairstyles that I want). Over the years, I look back and think, "why did I do that?" or "what was I thinking?" But, at the time, that is what I wanted and I rocked it as best as I could. So here is my hair transformation dating back from a few years ago, 2014 to now! I think it's so crazy how far my hair has come since then!

(Fall 2014)

(Fall 2014)

From the very start, I have always had long hair, very thick and very long hair. I would struggle with how to style it so I would always go with my go to which was to curl it, which caused a lot of heat damage. One time I made a crazy decision that I wanted my hairdresser to try dying it red, which was unrealistic because I have very dark brown hair and it only lasted about a week lol. It is always a struggle because having such dark hair makes it extremely difficult to dye it. But, in the end, I love my hair color. The first time I ever colored my hair was when I was sixteen and I chose an ombre look, which I still to this day am obsessed with! I have always loved my long locks but made the decision to chop a lot of it off a few years ago.

(Winter 2015)

(Winter 2015)

In these two pictures is when I cut my hair a little bit short. I think it was just about summer time and I reallllly wanted a change. My hairdresser was reluctant to cut it because she had always known me with long hair and didn't want me regretting cutting a lot of it off. But I said, do it!!! And she did, and I was happy with it. Suddenly I felt much lighter, which was liberating. It was probably a little bit past my shoulder, just around my shoulder area. I found cute ways to style it and really loved having short(er) hair!

(Spring 2015)

It then grew out a little bit. I feel like at this point I was just testing it out, seeing if I really wanted to stick with a lob type of cut. It then started to look like a mess and my "layers" were growing out weird and I needed a visit to the salon.

(Summer 2015)

(Summer 2015)

I then made the ultimate decision to REALLY cut it! Like A LOT! In these pictures my hair is the shortest it has ever been (well besides birth and when I was very young). It hit around my mid-neck area, a little bit above my shoulders. And believe me, it was such a change. As much as it was liberating, I enjoyed it for the time being. To be honest, it was fun to try something new. These pictures, I believe, are from the summer of 2015. I was just about to start college and I thought I'd try something totally different (which it definitely was)!! I kept it at this length for a little while. I let it grow out and occasionally made a visit to the salon to get it trimmed. It was something to get used to, even for my friends and family who were not used to seeing me with such short hair. Part of the reason why I cut it was to strengthen it and help it get healthier after dying it many times, but mostly because at this time there was a lob trend going on which I wanted to try out! So at this point, whatever color was left in it I was going to grow it out and later cut it.

(Winter 2016)

(Summer 2016)

As I said, I let it grow out a little bit and it stayed around my shoulders for a good amount of time. It was definitely fun to play with it! I feel like I have always had ombre or at least lighter ends. And occasionally, when I felt like I needed some retouching or to lightening a bit more, I would do so. I don't know what it is, but I love the look of having lighter ends!

(Winter 2016)

Then I started growing out my hair again. This is around the end of 2016. I liked this length! Cutting my hair was a great choice, but at this point, I started growing it out again. It may not get to the length it used to be when it was very long and I don't think I want it to be super long. Oh and I have also changed my part too! I used to always have a middle part, but one day, I was playing around with it and turned it into a side part lol!

(Spring 2017)

So this is one of the most recent pictures of my hair. I am really happy with the length right now! I can style it in different ways. My go to, as always, is to curl it. I can't really make up my mind on whether or not I want to keep my side part of go back to my middle part, point is, I'm very indecisive!!! Which I think is why I am always changing my hair and doing something different to it. I've made a hair appointment for next month and I plan on lightening the ends and possibly getting and itty bitty trim, just to make it healthier!

Hope You Enjoyed! :)
